Okay so I’ve worked out most of my problems while riding but there is always room for improvement and I’m striving to improve my ride and my comfort.
Let me first say that I still have one problem and that is still in the stage of fixing, just so you know it isn’t anything involving the trike, it is involving the sun. For some reason this year I’m getting sunburned more than I’ve ever been in my life. So I have the protective sleeves, leggings, swim leggings and an under the helmet cap, but despite all of this prep I’m still getting quite sunburned on my face. I’ve got two ideas that I’m working on but until I can figure it out, guess I will just have to keep on applying suntan lotion, like maybe every 30 minutes.
So in case you forgot because it has been so long since I wrote about my starting my ride. A quick trip down memory lane revealed that instead of starting out at my house location and riding from there, instead I drove out to a city just outside of the city limits and rode my 31 miles on a popular bike route where there is not a lot of traffic. So I now have 31 miles under my belt and my ride has now begin. Oh and I started Serenity’s journey in San Antonio, TX, which is where the first leg of the ride is being marked on Map My Ride.
By the way, if you are planning on going on MMR to try to find my route, unfortunately you will not find my route there or at least you will not find it at this time. While I’m riding I’m keeping the route which will tell my location as private for the time being. This is also done for my own safety as I’m riding solo which means that there is not anyone following behind me and I check in with a couple of friends when I reach certain points along my ride. There is my only safety net so this is the reason why at this time my route will remain private.
Okay I can tell you about this part of the ride because it is over and done with and a lot of things have changed so don’t worry, I’m still trying to protect myself.
I’m in the middle of downtown Boerne with the 31 miles I racked up and put them down on my map. So that is all for the first day of riding and if you think about it, that is really a very slow start and I’ll try to do better the next time.
I will advise you that I’m still riding comfortably with my music coming from my bluetooth speaker, my lights in front and back are flashing away, my state flag and holographic streamers are flying and I’ve got my 3L bladder of water with the insulated director’s tube attached to keep the drinking tube in place.
